Mission Bay is one of San Diego's most popular outdoor destinations.
Mission Bay Park is a 4,600 acre man made aquatic park with 27 miles of shore, 19 miles of sandy beaches, palm-lined recreation paths and 14 miles of bike path. Rose Creek flows into Mission Bay from the north, creating a rich wetland area called the Kendall Frost Marsh. In the middle of Mission Bay Park lies Fiesta Island and Vacation Isle, both reachable by road.
Best known for water sports, including rowing, sailing, kite-surfing, wind surfing, wake-boarding and jet skiing. You can rent sailboats, jet skis, kayaks and power boats. The San Diego Crew Classic, one of the largest rowing regattas in the country is held on Mission Bay each Spring. There are however as many on shore activities, including golfing, picnicking, volleyball, kite, cycling, jogging, roller-skating and skateboarding. For the avid fisherman there are fishing trips departing daily and whale watching tours during the winter months. There are plenty of BBQ pits and picnic areas to sit and relax.
Mission Bay is close to downtown San Diego to enjoy all the attractions that San Diego has to offer. SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo are the most famous tourist attractions in Mission Bay, with over 200 acres of shows, rides and exotic animals.
