For more off-piste activities head to the village ice rink or to the youth sledding hill next to the town hall. Rent a pair of snow shoes and explore the 8 miles of trails through frosted trees at Emerald Outback. Late February brings the Totally 80’s Retro Ski Weekend, a fun event not to be missed.
The summer months offer a great climate and plenty of outdoor activities. The downhill ski slopes open up for biking and Emerald Outback has 8 miles of scenic single and double-track trails for mountain biking, hiking and trail running. Hike to waterfalls and enjoy the mountain vistas extending for hundreds of miles. There are many hidden trout streams across the mountain, ideal for fly fisherman looking for tranquillity at the water’s edge. Coffey Lake and Buckeye Lake also offer recreational fishing. Golfers can enjoy some of the best scenery on the ridge-top course of Beech Mountain Club, with views of four surrounding states.
