Harrison is a quaint and historic resort town at the mouth of the Coeur d’Alene River, south of Coeur d’Alene on the southeast shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Harrison is a walking town where everything is within easy reach and a few blocks from the water. Stroll through the streets with eclectic shops, an art gallery, historic museum and several restaurants with live music for evening fun. Relax on the sandy beaches taking in the beautiful views of the lake and the mountains while enjoying hand scooped ice cream cones from the local Creamery.
Running through the town is the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, a spectacular 72 mile recreation trail. The trail follows the historic Union Pacific rail route and is one of the most spectacular trails in the West. The trail passes through the historic Heyburn State Park with excellent hiking trails and the Thompson Lake Wildlife Refuge with abundant birdlife and wildlife. Explore the Route of the Hiawatha, a groomed biking trail, take a scenic drive on the Lake Coeur d’Alene Scenic Byway or venture into the trails of the Idaho Panhandle National Forest.
There are numerous lakes and two rivers in the area for tubing, kayaking and fishing. Take a relaxed float down the St. Joe River or the more adventurous can get their adrenaline pumping on the wilder waters. Harrison is a haven for boaters who enjoy the uncrowded waters. There are many fishing tournaments throughout the summer months.
The nearby Silver Mountain Ski Resort offers uncrowded groomed runs and a challenging terrain park. During the summer months the mountain trails can be accessed for downhill mountain biking on the world’s largest gondola.
