Award-winning winter retreat
Schweitzer Ski Area is Idaho’s largest ski resort with 2900 acres of terrain and 92 trails for all levels of skiers, including two massive bowls. Skiers and snowboarder can enjoy spectacular views of Lake Pend Oreille, three mountain ranges, Canada and three states as they cruise the wild trails of the Selkirk Mountains. An additional 200 miles of out-of-bounds terrain and 40km of cross-country trails add to the attraction of this ski area.
Schweitzer in summer is spectacular. Alpine wildflower meadows, old growth mountain forests and 111 miles of Lake Pend Oreille shoreline offers fun and adventure for summer fun seekers. The Great Escape Quad is open in summer for hikers and bikers to enjoy miles of cross country and downhill adventure with breath-taking views of the lake below. In July and August, Huckleberry’s are found all along the trails for tasting. Horseride through the forests or soar above the forests at 800 feet on a dual zipline adventure. Enjoy hours of fun on the lake’s shoreline with watersports and fun in the sun, ending the day on a sunset dinner cruise. The village offers fun for the whole family with rock climbing, a spa and movies at the Selkirk Theater. Kids will love the Cranky Jennings Mining Co. Sluice Box which channels a stream of water as kids sift through the sand mining for gems.
