Travel a little further north and enroute in Valparaiso you will find the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida. Educating and interesting exhibits will take you from Northwest Florida in 8800 B.C to today. In nearby Crestview the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge Zoological Park recently opened its doors and is home to hundreds of animals from all over the world.
With breaktaking views of the Gulf of Mexico, Santa Rosa Sound and Choctawhatchee Bay, Okaloosa Island lies between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. Famous for large fish, with 1262 feet of pier, the Okaloosa Fishing Pier is great to visit, either for fishing, dolphin watching or to watch the sun dipping into the ocean at the end of the day. Access to the Emerald’s Coast finest beaches is just steps away. Visit the islands dolphins, sea lions, seals, turtles and alligators at the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park.
The best place to take the family is Big Kahuna’s in Destin, an exceptional water park with fun slides, water rides, half pipe, wave simulator, race track and mini golf. Henderson Beach State Park with its warm crystal clear water and white sugar sand is not be missed. Nearby Gator Beach is a fun and exciting opportunity to touch, hold and feed the alligators.
