Visit one of the Wildlife Refuges - The Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge is a 4,000-acre refuge popular for hiking, biking, bird watching, and photography. You can go round the island by kayak or boat or hike a trail where you will experience birds, alligators, dolphins, wildflowers, and swampy woods. Alternatively, you can visit the alligators at The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge, a short 45 minutes from Hilton Head, along the Savannah River. Zipline Hilton Head offers an eco-adventure canopy tour through oaks and pines overlooking the marshes of Hilton Head.

History Abounds

Visit the many historic sites, churches and museums. The interactive Coastal Discovery Museum teaches its visitors about the history and wildlife of the sea islands. The Baynard Plantation Ruins will captivate visitors with its mystery. Nearby Daufuski Island was named a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places and is home to a museum and two historic lighthouses.
