Nestled next to Depoe Bay and just north of Newport, Otter Rock is a quaint coastal village named from a rock off the coastline that is home to otters. The offshore rocks form part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and are home to many marine birds. Enjoy panoramic views of the ocean stretching from Devils Punchbowl to the historic Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
Waikiki of Oregon
The beautiful beaches of Otter Rock explain why it is known as the “Waikiki of Oregon”. Otter Rock is a legendary surfing destination for all levels of surfers, attracting surfers from around the world. Kayakers enjoy the whitewaters that form around Otter Rock. With some of the best tide pools along the coastline, take a hike along the scenic loop trail alive with wildlife, birdlife and great whale watching. A must see is Devils Punchbowl, a large bowl naturally carved in a rock headland with great wild waves, a favorite destination for storm and surf watching. Just south is Beverly Beach with stunning views of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
